I am Bryan Chia, Managing Director of EYE 1 RECYCLE. As well as chairman of Miri Secondhand Dealer and recycler Association.

Last year I initiated Ecobrick Project which just broke Malaysia Book of Records – The Largest Ecobrick Recycling Project In Malaysia. And this year, this Ecobrick Project would be the first project in Sarawak that aim for world record title. We target 20,000 Ecobricks that’s 20,000 hope and dreams on the bottle.

I would like to share the secret of success of this project. Yes, being able to study in SMK Chung Hua Miri gave me an edge in handling the real world. While many schools focus on academic and sport, SMK Chung Hua Miri is the place where students can train your leadership skill. I still can recall when I was a student I was given the chance to organise first school concert. In the school concert, i learnt to look for talented people, organized a team that work together, reward those volunteers base on their contributions, even learnt to do the budgeting and forecasting. Eventhough I made mistakes, it was fine because I still a students at that time. But if you make mistakes when you are working, you might either loosing your job or even worst end up heavily in debt. This kind of valueble experience you can’t learn from books as you need a lot of real practices to master it. Guess what? SMK Chung Hua Miri is the place where you all got the chance to shape yourself before entering the real world. For those that are still studying, please don’t shy away from the school activities and be brave to take up any responsibility. Who knows you might be the next shinning star one day.
